Dedication To My Dad
God's Love is Amazing album is dedicated to my late father, Mr. Otis Louis Jackson, Sr. who was the most humble person I've known and extraordinarily passionate about loving and serving God and others. At the age of 10, my father dropped out of school in the fourth grade to work and pick cotton to take care of his mother and siblings in Centerville, Mississippi. He made 50 cents a day for 14 hours, $3.00 a week for 6 days.
After joining the Army, he bought his mother a home and 10 acres of land. He met my mother, the late Mrs. Nancy Lee Thomas-Jackson when she was pregnant with me. He married her and adopted all five of us and later had a son of his own. My father served Tulane Memorial Church in New Orleans about 60 years and worked as the Boiler Engineer on the USS President for over 40 years and never received a retirement pension.
As I started this journey, I thought about how deeply my dad loved everyone and served others. As I DoorDash for extra income to bring this project to life every time I got a $3.00 ride, I had to check myself and remember it took my dad 14 hours a day and 6 days a week to make $3.00 for his family, not for himself. In the words of his favorite song, "I Won't Complain."
